Where/how to use this writing goals posters resource:

  • Bulletin boards
  • Wall/door display
  • In a writing corner/at a writing station
  • As posters (to be referred to during writing lessons or writing centers)
  • As a clip chart to show student progress

Personally, I have used these writing goals posters as a clip chart wall display in both 1st and 3rd grade classrooms. I wrote student names on pegs and students moved their peg up to a new poster after achieving a goal. They had to demonstrate the goal three times before moving to the next poster.

Please view the preview to see the 10 goals included. The goals are like this –

‘I can use finger spaces’

‘I can write neatly’

There are also goals for capital letters, punctuation, as well as writing introductions, paragraphs, and conclusions. Describing words, spelling, and editing work is also featured.
