I want to give you a glimpse into what it was like for me as a new seller and why my growth was so slow.

I did it all on my own.

Yep, imagine me sitting at my laptop creating products back in 2015. I was figuring it out on my own and I had no idea what I was doing.

Not only was it lonely, but I also made so many mistakes because I tried to just ‘wing it’. I had no-one to guide me or learn from. I had no other sellers to bond with.

Nowadays, I am all about learning from others and my growth has skyrocketed. Today, I want to talk about the secret to success on Teachers Pay Teachers – learning from others.

THE SECRET TO SUCCESS ON TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS — I truly believe that my TPT store took off when I stopped trying to figure it all out on my own!

Here’s what I do now –

Facebook Groups

I am a hugely active member of many Facebook groups. So many questions are asked and I learn so much from people’s responses. Feel free to join my Facebook group ‘The Terrific Teacherpreneur’. The great thing about Facebook groups is that you learn so much, but you also bond with others. I’ve made some TPT besties because of Facebook groups!

Instagram

I follow the experts. There are some TPT sellers who share their wisdom and there are other business/marketing gurus who have knowledge to give. I follow them on Facebook and Instagram. Here are some of the business/marketing gurus you can learn from –

Long Form Content

The experts have a lot of insight, which they share through their long form content. I read their blogs (and often subscribe to their email newsletters). Most business and marketing experts have YouTube channels or amazing podcasts. If you want some free tips, there are great podcasts out there for TPT sellers. Courses

I learn and research. Instead of just ‘winging it’, I now do courses. If you’re looking to invest in your business and truly see growth, courses are a must.

There are courses out there for selling on TPT, but there are also more specific courses for each social media platform. If you want to learn Pinterest, don’t just wing it, take a course! If you want to start doing Facebook ads, don’t just throw money into the wind, take a course!

Trying to patch together free tips from lots of sources is not a recipe for success. Courses will give you a framework to follow.

Learn from others

I truly believe that the secret to success on Teachers Pay Teachers is learning to do things the right way. If you can’t afford things like courses, just absorb free knowledge from podcasts or blogs!

Overall, I learn from others 1000x more than I used to. My business is growing so much more quickly because of it.

I encourage you to join Facebook groups, read blogs, subscribe to email lists, listen to podcasts, take courses, and follow experts on social media. There are people out there who can help you. You will not regret it.
