I love teaching procedure writing. It must be my love of organization and structure! And I think most kids enjoy how to writing as well, especially if it’s fun and about food. The idea of writing about pizza is almost as exciting as eating it apparently!
I created a selection of procedure writing (how to) worksheets on TPT. In this post I’ll show you the full product and then the freebie!

The full product includes 5 prompts (how to make popcorn, how to make a pizza, how to make a PB&J sandwich, how to carve a pumpkin and how to decorate a Christmas tree). Each prompt is featured in 7 pages:
- Cut, Sort, and Glue Steps
- First, Then, Next, Last (Dotted Lines)
- First, Then, Next, Last (Plain Lines)
- Materials/Steps Template
- Writing Page (Dotted Lines)
- Writing Page (Plain Lines)
- Coloring Page

There are also 5 blank templates where students can write a procedure on any topic! Some of the prompts are seasonal, so students can enjoy writing about Halloween and Christmas.

Freebie Time!
The free sample includes the following fun worksheets for how to make popcorn:
